GEEDITOR / AC3 → M4A
About this conversion · AC3 → M4A
Use AC3 → M4A when your player or editing workflow needs M4A. The engine decodes and re-encodes supported tracks; this is not a lossless container rename.
The original file on your device is not overwritten. Keep it until you have opened and checked the downloaded result; a different extension does not restore information already missing from the source.
This route converts the first audio track. Metadata and extra tracks are not retained. Lossy re-encoding can change sound quality; saving a compressed recording to a lossless format cannot restore discarded sound information.
The current engine uses this output preset: M4A / AAC · 256 kb/s · 48,000 Hz · 2 ch · faststart. These values describe the output, not the source recording. The image-quality slider does not change this media preset.
The queue accepts up to 50 files and 500 MB of combined input. The per-file cap is the limit shown above, at most 100 MB. Individual engines can impose stricter limits; split large jobs before retrying.
How to convert
- Click “Choose files” or drop a genuine AC3 file into the tool. Start with one small sample; changing a filename extension does not change its actual format.
- After file checking, the initial output is M4A. You can change the output selector to another compatible format after adding a file. The guide below describes the default AC3 → M4A conversion, not every alternative.
- Image quality, image width, background, PDF page and icon controls do not configure this conversion. Use the engine's built-in settings; this interface does not offer extra controls for this route.
- Click “Convert files” once the file is ready. Keep the tab open while it runs. Some formats first download an additional engine; do not repeatedly restart the task while that engine loads.
- After completion, use the download link on the file's row. For several completed results, “Download all” packages them in a ZIP; it does not merge their contents. Save downloads before refreshing or closing the tab.
- Listen to the downloaded M4A at the beginning, middle and end. Compare duration, loudness and channel balance with the AC3 source, and test it in the actual destination player.
