GEEDITOR / AMR → WAV

About this conversion · AMR → WAV

Need a WAV file for an audio editor or an import requirement? Convert AMR to PCM audio here. Expect a larger file than many compressed sources; the extra bytes do not restore sound that was already discarded.

The current engine uses this output preset: WAV / PCM_s16le · 48,000 Hz · 2 ch. These values describe the output, not the source recording.

Audio output is mixed to two channels by this engine. Check the channel layout and duration; WAV and AIFF are exported as 16-bit PCM, not as an untouched copy of the source.

At this tool’s 48,000 Hz, 16-bit, two-channel PCM preset, one minute needs about 11.52 MB of audio data, plus headers. Duration—not the compressed source size—explains why WAV or AIFF can be much larger.

Worked example — Calculated example; not a measured file-size result
48,000 × 16 ÷ 8 × 2 × 60 = 11,520,000 bytes = 11.52 MB (≈10.99 MiB)

How to convert

  1. Click “Choose files” and select the original AMR file. Start with one file when comparing settings.
  2. Check that the output selector shows WAV. The instructions here describe this choice; changing the output can change which settings apply.
  3. Click “Convert files”, then save the result from its file row. “Download all” puts completed files into a ZIP; it does not combine their contents.
  4. Listen to the downloaded WAV at the beginning, middle and end. Compare duration, loudness and channel balance with the AMR source, and test it in the actual destination player.

Frequently asked questions

Will converting restore lost sound quality?

No. Converting a compressed source to WAV, AIFF or FLAC cannot reconstruct discarded frequencies or remove compression artifacts. Choose these outputs because your next tool needs them, not as an audio-restoration step.

Can I change the audio or video encoding preset here?

The current engine uses this output preset: WAV / PCM_s16le · 48,000 Hz · 2 ch. These values describe the output, not the source recording. Media size depends on duration and the output codec or preset, not the filename extension alone. This interface has no bitrate or trimming controls. For a smaller result, prepare a shorter source or choose another suitable output format.

Why are audio, subtitles or extra tracks missing?

This route converts the first audio track. Metadata and extra tracks are not retained. Lossy re-encoding can change sound quality; saving a compressed recording to a lossless format cannot restore discarded sound information. Audio output is mixed to two channels by this engine. Check the channel layout and duration; WAV and AIFF are exported as 16-bit PCM, not as an untouched copy of the source.
