GEEDITOR / HEIC → GIF
About this conversion · HEIC → GIF
Export a still GIF from HEIC for a workflow that requires GIF. This is not an animation maker. Flat-color graphics are a better fit than photographs with smooth gradients.
Image-to-GIF creates a static, palette-limited image, not an animation. Gradients may become banded, and partial transparency is not preserved like PNG alpha. Keep PNG or WebP as an alternative when these details matter.
This image route exports pixel data, not a repair of the original. Layers are flattened and animated or multipage files use one frame or page. Color depth, profiles and metadata may change; lost detail cannot be recovered by changing the extension.
Worked example — Calculated example; not a measured file-size result
Input: 2400 × 1600 px
Maximum image width: 1600 px
Output: 1600 × 1067 px
How to convert
- Click “Choose files” and select the original HEIC file. Start with one file when comparing settings.
- Check that the output selector shows GIF. The instructions here describe this choice; changing the output can change which settings apply.
- Open “Conversion settings” below the file area before starting conversion. Set only the options relevant to the output described below.
- Leave “Maximum image width” empty to keep the current dimensions. Enter a smaller width, such as 1600, only when you want to reduce a wider image; the height follows its proportions.
- Click “Convert files”, then save the result from its file row. “Download all” puts completed files into a ZIP; it does not combine their contents.
- Open the downloaded GIF image at 100% zoom. Compare dimensions, orientation, fine text, transparent edges and colors with the HEIC original before uploading it elsewhere.
