GEEDITOR / HEIF → BMP
About this conversion · HEIF → BMP
Export HEIF pixels as BMP for software or a processing pipeline that requests this format. Check the output characteristics below before converting a whole batch; a format with a larger bit depth or simpler storage does not add detail to the source.
Output: BMP · RGB · 24 bit/pixel
This image route exports pixel data, not a repair of the original. Layers are flattened and animated or multipage files use one frame or page. Color depth, profiles and metadata may change; lost detail cannot be recovered by changing the extension.
Worked example — Calculated example; not a measured file-size result
Input: 2400 × 1600 px
Maximum image width: 1600 px
Output: 1600 × 1067 px
How to convert
- Click “Choose files” and select the original HEIF file. Start with one file when comparing settings.
- Check that the output selector shows BMP. The instructions here describe this choice; changing the output can change which settings apply.
- Open “Conversion settings” below the file area before starting conversion. Set only the options relevant to the output described below.
- Leave “Maximum image width” empty to keep the current dimensions. Enter a smaller width, such as 1600, only when you want to reduce a wider image; the height follows its proportions.
- Choose “Opaque background” before exporting transparent artwork to an opaque format. The default is white, so white artwork needs a contrasting background to remain visible.
- Click “Convert files”, then save the result from its file row. “Download all” puts completed files into a ZIP; it does not combine their contents.
- Open the downloaded BMP image at 100% zoom. Compare dimensions, orientation, fine text, transparent edges and colors with the HEIF original before uploading it elsewhere.
