GEEDITOR / MOV → GIF
About this conversion · MOV → GIF
Use MOV → GIF when your player or editing workflow needs GIF. The engine decodes and re-encodes supported tracks; this is not a lossless container rename.
The original file on your device is not overwritten. Keep it until you have opened and checked the downloaded result; a different extension does not restore information already missing from the source.
This route creates an animated GIF from the video, without audio. The current engine exports up to 640 pixels wide at 12 frames per second. Long clips can create large files and may exceed browser memory or output limits.
The current engine uses this output preset: GIF · 12 fps · max-width=640 px · palette=192 · loop=0 · audio=none. These values describe the output, not the source recording. The image-quality slider does not change this media preset.
The queue accepts up to 50 files and 500 MB of combined input. The per-file cap is the limit shown above, at most 100 MB. Individual engines can impose stricter limits; split large jobs before retrying.
How to convert
- Click “Choose files” or drop a genuine MOV file into the tool. Start with one small sample; changing a filename extension does not change its actual format.
- After file checking, the initial output is GIF. You can change the output selector to another compatible format after adding a file. The guide below describes the default MOV → GIF conversion, not every alternative.
- Image quality, image width, background, PDF page and icon controls do not configure this conversion. Use the engine's built-in settings; this interface does not offer extra controls for this route.
- Click “Convert files” once the file is ready. Keep the tab open while it runs. Some formats first download an additional engine; do not repeatedly restart the task while that engine loads.
- After completion, use the download link on the file's row. For several completed results, “Download all” packages them in a ZIP; it does not merge their contents. Save downloads before refreshing or closing the tab.
- Open the downloaded GIF in a browser or app that plays animated GIFs. Check movement, looping, dimensions and small details against the source; some preview programs display only the first frame. GIF output has no audio.
