GEEDITOR / SVG → WEBP
About this conversion · SVG → WEBP
Preparing SVG images for a website? Try WebP, then compare the result at the size visitors will actually see. Choose it when the destination accepts the format and the visual result is worth the file size—not just because the extension is newer.
Inspect logos and small text as well as the main photo. A smaller file is not a useful improvement if the edges look dirty or the destination rejects the format. Keep the original so you can compare another setting.
An SVG input is rasterized for this workflow. External fonts or linked images may be unavailable, and editable vector paths are not retained in the raster result. Make necessary resources self-contained before conversion.
Worked example — Calculated example; not a measured file-size result
Input: 2400 × 1600 px
Maximum image width: 1600 px
Output: 1600 × 1067 px
How to convert
- Click “Choose files” and select the original SVG file. Start with one file when comparing settings.
- Check that the output selector shows WebP. The instructions here describe this choice; changing the output can change which settings apply.
- Open “Conversion settings” below the file area before starting conversion. Set only the options relevant to the output described below.
- Leave “Maximum image width” empty to keep the current dimensions. Enter a smaller width, such as 1600, only when you want to reduce a wider image; the height follows its proportions.
- For “Image quality”, start at 85% and compare small text and edges before reducing it. The range is 60–100%; 100% does not promise lossless output.
- Click “Convert files”, then save the result from its file row. “Download all” puts completed files into a ZIP; it does not combine their contents.
- Open the downloaded WebP image at 100% zoom. Compare dimensions, orientation, fine text, transparent edges and colors with the SVG original before uploading it elsewhere.
