GEEDITOR / WEBP → TGA

About this conversion · WEBP → TGA

Export WebP pixels as TGA for software or a processing pipeline that requests this format. Check the output characteristics below before converting a whole batch; a format with a larger bit depth or simpler storage does not add detail to the source.

Output: TGA · RGBA · 8 bit/channel · image_type=2

This image route exports pixel data, not a repair of the original. Layers are flattened and animated or multipage files use one frame or page. Color depth, profiles and metadata may change; lost detail cannot be recovered by changing the extension.

Worked example — Calculated example; not a measured file-size result
Input: 2400 × 1600 px
Maximum image width: 1600 px
Output: 1600 × 1067 px

How to convert

  1. Click “Choose files” and select the original WebP file. Start with one file when comparing settings.
  2. Check that the output selector shows TGA. The instructions here describe this choice; changing the output can change which settings apply.
  3. Open “Conversion settings” below the file area before starting conversion. Set only the options relevant to the output described below.
  4. Leave “Maximum image width” empty to keep the current dimensions. Enter a smaller width, such as 1600, only when you want to reduce a wider image; the height follows its proportions.
  5. Click “Convert files”, then save the result from its file row. “Download all” puts completed files into a ZIP; it does not combine their contents.
  6. Open the downloaded TGA image at 100% zoom. Compare dimensions, orientation, fine text, transparent edges and colors with the WebP original before uploading it elsewhere.

Frequently asked questions

Which settings should I use for this conversion?

Leave “Maximum image width” empty to keep the current dimensions. Enter a smaller width, such as 1600, only when you want to reduce a wider image; the height follows its proportions.

Why is the converted file larger?

Test one image at the original dimensions first. If the result is too large, reduce dimensions to the actual display requirement, then compare quality settings. A different extension alone does not guarantee a smaller file.

Will layers, animation and fine image details survive?

This image route exports pixel data, not a repair of the original. Layers are flattened and animated or multipage files use one frame or page. Color depth, profiles and metadata may change; lost detail cannot be recovered by changing the extension.
