GEEDITOR / AVIF → SVG

About this conversion · AVIF → SVG

Use AVIF → SVG when a website, editor or recipient needs a SVG image. This route decodes the source and creates a new output, rather than merely renaming the extension.

The original file on your device is not overwritten. Keep it until you have opened and checked the downloaded result; a different extension does not restore information already missing from the source.

This image route exports pixel data, not a repair of the original. Layers are flattened and animated or multipage files use one frame or page. Color depth, profiles and metadata may change; lost detail cannot be recovered by changing the extension.

The SVG output embeds a raster image. Zooming does not turn the pixels into editable vector paths; this is not vector tracing.

In this interface, image quality affects JPG, WebP, AVIF and the JPEG image embedded in image-to-PDF output. It is not a visual-quality slider for PNG, BMP or TIFF; those outputs have their own fixed encoding behavior.

Image inputs must fit within 64 million pixels and 16,384 pixels per side. Compressed file size alone does not predict memory use. If decoding already exceeds a limit, reduce the original in another editor before using this tool.

Changing settings clears completed results from this page so they can be regenerated. Download any result you need first, change the setting, then convert again. Settings apply to the queue, not just one selected file.

How to convert

  1. Click “Choose files” or drop a genuine AVIF file into the tool. Start with one small sample; changing a filename extension does not change its actual format.
  2. After file checking, the initial output is SVG. You can change the output selector to another compatible format after adding a file. The guide below describes the default AVIF → SVG conversion, not every alternative.
  3. Open “Conversion settings” below the file area before starting conversion. Set only the options relevant to the output described below.
  4. Leave “Maximum image width” blank to avoid intentional downscaling, or enter a smaller width in pixels. For example, 1600 reduces a wider image proportionally; it does not enlarge a smaller image or provide a separate height control.
  5. Click “Convert files” once the file is ready. Keep the tab open while it runs. Some formats first download an additional engine; do not repeatedly restart the task while that engine loads.
  6. After completion, use the download link on the file's row. For several completed results, “Download all” packages them in a ZIP; it does not merge their contents. Save downloads before refreshing or closing the tab.
  7. Open the downloaded SVG image at 100% zoom. Compare dimensions, orientation, fine text, transparent edges and colors with the AVIF original before uploading it elsewhere.

Frequently asked questions

Will the original layout remain editable and identical?

The SVG output embeds a raster image. Zooming does not turn the pixels into editable vector paths; this is not vector tracing.

Will layers, animation and fine image details survive?

This image route exports pixel data, not a repair of the original. Layers are flattened and animated or multipage files use one frame or page. Color depth, profiles and metadata may change; lost detail cannot be recovered by changing the extension. Open the downloaded SVG image at 100% zoom. Compare dimensions, orientation, fine text, transparent edges and colors with the AVIF original before uploading it elsewhere.

Why is the converted file larger?

A different image format can be larger because its compression and pixel representation differ. Reduce the output dimensions when appropriate and compare the downloaded size; a format change alone does not guarantee a smaller file.

Why might my file fail to convert?

Read the row's error message. Check the genuine input format, file integrity, protection and size. Retry one small sample with the tab active and required engine downloads allowed. A codec unavailable in this browser engine requires another compatible source or converter.
